In this 25th version of the Scottish Highlands policeman, Hamish MacBeth, there is a lot about his love life and his third engagement as well as several crimes to solve.

There is also more violence than I recall Mrs. Beaton including in her other stories. Her Agatha Raisin series is more like Dame Agatha's, than the MacBeth tales, but still, it is the village of Lochdubh after all. You don't expect letter bombs and other really violent murders in this idyllic setting.
