This was a difficult book to assign a rating to. It contains two shorter novels, "Reading Turgenev" and "My House in Umbria." I adored the first and didn't want it to end but the second I couldn't make a connection with. I'm still giving this a high rating, though, because I loved the first tale so and, though I didn't care for the second, I recognize the quality of writing with which is was composed.

Mary wow, looking him up on wikipedia, he has written a lot of award winners. there sure are a lot of good irish writers.

Stina I know! I'm embarrassed that I didn't know of him before, especially when I saw all that he has written.
