I liked the mystery part of this book and continued reading it, although it was quite slow, just to find out what had really happened to the main character's deceased mother. For me, the main problem with the book was the development of the characters. The author spent a chapter at the beginning introducing all of the characters and telling you about their personalities. I prefer to meet characters along the way and learn about their personalities through their thoughts and actions. I had trouble connecting to the characters or really caring what happened to them.
