Founding Father of US revolution, 2nd President, father of 6th President, John Quincy Adams. Incredible man, of almost unparalleled probity, faith without false piety, quite at odds with Thomas Jefferson despite their friendship. Wonderful relationship with his wife. Literally gave his life for his country, not in death, but in devoting his whole life and wealth to it.

Other readings clarify that the man was not perfect and tended to be headstrong, but that does not diminish this appraisal. See Founding Father: Rediscovering George Washington by Richard Brookhiser and Prelude to Glory (5 volumns) by Ron Carter.
