Really...it would be 4.5 stars. I started this book on Thursday, could not put it down, and finished it up this afternoon (Monday)...and it is a 609 page novel.
It reminded me a lot of Gone With the Wind only it was set in Texas and spaned from about 1914-1985. It is a good old fashioned epic dealing with family secrets and family politics. But front and center to the book is love...young love, life long love, parent/child love and family love.
The novel pulls you in from the first page and keeps you reading by telling the story from different perspectives by key characters in different time periods. If you are looking for a good curl up and read all day book...this is the book for you.
