For years, I have avoided like the plague anything I knew to be connected with "Dungeons and Dragons." I thought that stuff is for weirdos who dress up in black robes and hold secret ritualistic meetings. I want nothing to do with role-playing games or groups. So I refused to read these. Fortunately, I changed my mind.
I finally decided to give this series a shot and I am very glad I did. If you accept it for what it is, it is a great story with very endearing characters and a world you will feel connected to. Don't go into this series expecting something like Martin, Jordan or Rothfuss. that level of depth just isn't there. Just be ready for a classically good story and you will not be disappointed. It took a while, but I have at long last truly learned not to judge a book by it's cover.
