just finished this yesterday. well researched, well written, well argued. offers a rich and coherent analysis on the arc of new york class war politics leading into and through the 1975 financial crisis, and the ways branding, image and marketing were key tools in a restructuring of class power towards elite rule and neoliberalism. i wouldn't quite call the book marxist; there was little sense of capitalism as a total system or class contradictions being intrinsic to its structure. but it certainly offers a strong left class-based critique and an excellent piece of new york history. well-done.
