Clear portrayal of how thin the margins of victory were in the civil war. The 20th Maine's bayonet charge quite possibly saved the union. Lee's unimaginable position to proceed with Pickett's charge. A last ditch effort based on hope that they will break and leave open the road to Washington. The cause behind this war so little to do with slavery and so much to do with loyalty.
