I was determined to read this book in its unabridged form, because I'd felt gypped at our Les Mis book group at how much I'd missed. Because of this, it took me 2 months to make it through the nearly 1300 pages--a full month past the book discussion on this book.
But in that time I actually read it twice--once as an audio book, and then again as a hard copy. I meant to trade off between the audio book and my library edition, but I was so enamored with the language, that I'd listen to parts I'd just read, and read parts I'd just heard.
I really think this is one of the best books ever written. I loved it. I read the last chapter a total of 4 times because I just liked it that much!
I'm wondering what happened to the qualities of honor and vengeance that were so prevalent even 100 years ago? A great story with so much to think about!
I highly recommend it.
