Heavy sigh….wipes tears away from face….wow!

I am at a loss for words to describe how much I loved Kiss of the Highlander. I was captivated from the first page and I literally did not put the book down until I finished it. Ms. Moning, I want my very own Highlander!

The story was beautiful. It was hot, steamy, romantic, and magical.

Our heroine Gwen, was on a bus tour of Scotland. She decides to go for a hike. Her bag falls and as she goes to retrieve it, she also falls and lands on top of an enchanted Highlander. 500 year old curse broken, he awakens to find Gwen in a compromising position on top of him. What a great introduction to our Highlander Drustan MacKeltar. (For those of you that have read the Fever series, yes, he is a MacKeltar).

So there you have it, a 21st century girl meets 16th century Scot. At first, you sympathize with Drustan. Everything is new and strange to him. But he is endearing, he is stubborn, he is handsome and a mathematical genius. He is strangely attired. He carries a lot of weapons. He is strangely attracted to Gwen. Gwen is a very likeable heroine. She is strong, smart, adaptable, and beautiful. Oh, did I mention that she was a virgin?

There is also a time travel aspect to this story. Gwen is sent back in time where she needs to change a series of events that cause Drustan to be cursed.

Kiss of the Highlander is one of those books that brought out a whole range of emotions in me....I laughed, I cried, I sighed...
I ran to the library to get the next book....

Tatiana Thanks for letting me know right away the heroine was a virgin. I was dying to know:o)

message 2: by AH (new) - rated it 4 stars

AH I thought it was *very* important for these books. They always seem to be virgins.

Danny Love your Review! I knew you would like it !!

and yes they are all Virgins which is a bit weird to be honest...

message 4: by AH (new) - rated it 4 stars

AH The women are also tiny next to the very large highlanders.

Danny ROFL
Yep this is very much true... very tiny... and very veeery large..

*giggles*

message 6: by AH (new) - rated it 4 stars

AH I really like the next book - the Dark Highlander. Another one with a virgin....

Danny and a large Highlander.. and he's the largest and sexiest one!

(But I guess all our Virgins say that)

message 8: by AH (new) - rated it 4 stars

AH *Heavy sigh*
I did cry a lot at the end of this one.....

Danny Yes me too! This story was wonderful, and it was indeed a story and a plot and not just hot and steamy. I liked how she had to go back and then they suddenly she was in the same situation he was before!!

But the Druid Biding Vow - makes.me.cry.just.thinking.about.it...
"...I am Given" *shivers*

(btw does Magic Bites has Romance? I feel like I need some lovely Romance book atm...)

AH Magic Burns is the first book of the series. It's a love/hate relationship for the first 3 books. Nice build up and sexual tension. Haven't read the 4th yet. A lot of world building in the first 2 books. If you can stick it out, great, because Magic Strikes is really good and I hear that Magic Bleeds is awesome.

Have you read Richelle Mead's Storm Born? Romance and knots - Dorian is pretty sexy.

Danny I will read them definitely, but right now I'm in the mood for heartbreaking romance...

I will look into Storm Born ! Thanks !

Greta is Erikasbuddy Oh bob!! I'm soo gonna have to read this series!! You know me and my highlanders ;) Mmmm!!

And of course Girly was a virgin. I think that's like the law in Romance Novels. LOLZ!

I see u gave this one 4 stars. NICE!! They must be getting better :)

Danny We told you you have to read them!!!

Greta is Erikasbuddy I have the first book in transit to me ;) I should have it on Monday (my library only stays open till noon tomorrow and I don't think it will be in by then - book mobile)

I'm sad to say that I am going to have to take a Harry Potter break. I don't know what's wrong with me... I just can't get in them. Do you think it's because I know how they are going to end?

But... MMMS! I can't wait for some highlander noms!! Are there supernatural things to the stories, too?

message 15: by AH (new) - rated it 4 stars

AH Druid magic and a little supernatural stuff so far....

This one required lots of kleenex at the end....loved it.

Harry will understand if you take a short break....

Greta is Erikasbuddy LOLZ!! I hope Harry understands :) I am determined to get them read. I checked my son's bookshelf and saw that the next book is like 700+ pgs. I was like "Oh snap!! JK just wrote more to make more money lolz!!"

Oh sweet!! Druid magic and some supernatural. Coolies!!

message 17: by AH (new) - rated it 4 stars

AH They get longer and longer, those Harry Potters.

Highlanders are definitely more fun....and then you'll be ready for the Fever series by January.

Greta is Erikasbuddy oh yes!! I'm pretty sure I'll have to read the Fever series all at once.... if I'm going to get all excited about the epic cliffies... it's best if I wait lolz :) till January :)

message 20: by AH (new) - rated it 4 stars

AH Thanks, LL!

Greta is Erikasbuddy I just requested this and Storm Front from my library ;) Thank BOB for women who write novels about delicious highlander ;) I am hoping that I'll never run out lolz ;)

Lindsey Do you have to read these in order? I just happened to see KMM's name on this one and picked it up as I love the Fever series. Noticed on your review of the 3rd Highlander book that you said I start there... Could I start here instead or is 3 good too? I need a break from Iced as I am having trouble getting into Danni's character. How are you doing with that one? Tell me it gets better! Thanks & sorry for all the questions.

message 23: by AH (new) - rated it 4 stars

AH Start on this book - Drustan and Daegus appear in the Fever series. I promise that you won't miss much. Once you read books 4-7, you'll probably want to go back to books 1 and 3 because Adam Black is in one of those and he is quite hunky and mischievious.

I read Iced and gave it a 3.5. I found Dani annoying and I was one of the people that liked Mac right from the first book. I think I would have found Dani more believable had she been 16 and not 14. At times, she acted like a petulant teenager and other times her vocabulary was kind of unrealistic for a 14 year old. I mean, how many 14 year olds do you know that are able to correctly use the word loquacious in a sentence? And all of the men attracted to her - a little squicky since she was only 14.

Lindsey Thanks AH! Also, I agree with you on voice in Iced- I wish she was older!

Lindsey Just wanted to tell out thanks as I really liked this! On to the next one.:)
