Too few books like this! African-American main characters, but none of them deal drugs, get pregnant, etc. They struggle with issues that have nothing to do with race, but language is clearly Af-Am. One graphic sex scene, but makes sense in context of story. Characters have sexual feelings and there are consequences to their actions, but they're not "bad."
