Hmm. I like the idea here - it's not scifi, just fiction about scientists doing their thing. Too bad the scientific "insight" into fads is dumbed down and repetitive - genuine lab notes might be more stimulating - and the corporate satire is lame city - ripped from the pages of Dilbert would be an improvement. Meetings are long and people are sheep. Got it. (Yes, there really are sheep in the book. It's subtle like that.) Willis does write likeable hapless heroes, with bonus intellectual romance! But I felt like I was reading a bad YA novel - they get rewarded for being terribly clever even though all they did was wander through a painfully telegraphed plot.
