Enjoyable but forgettable. This is yet another book in a long list of teenage-vampire romances. The main character, Poppy, has a best friend who is a secret vampire and when she finds that she has an incurable disease he reveals his secret and offers to make her like him. Then there are the impediments: the protective brother, the evil vampire cousin, the "nightworld" - the secret society of non-humans, and tons of teenaged angst.

While I would have loved this as a teenager, I find that as an adult the angst, foolishness and stereotyped characters are at best silly and at worst ridiculous. With that said, I still found this book more enjoyable than all the Twilight books but the first.
