I really want to give it a 3.5. The more I dwell on this book, the more I wonder if part of my frustration is that I haven't finished the series. I enjoyed most of the character development, I felt they were real. It was a very interesting take on post apocalyptic earth, and what would happen. Having a religious background I recognized the scripture used in the conjuring and where most of the characters would have come from. I felt Thorn got a little whiny in the middle. For someone with such great power yet no training, she seemed to know a little too much. I really felt she was made better by those around her. I enjoyed the side characters more than her, and wanted more information on them especially Lolo, as well as the history of the town. Again maybe this will be explained as you move into the next books. Also the end battle scene got long for me. I was really into everything and moving along well, the book hooked me in, until the last 25 pages and I found myself rereading sections because I couldn’t get through it. I do want the read the next in the series though and see if my opinion improves.
