This colorful book that is commonly a song that children sing about and old woman that swallows many bugs and animals. It is a fun poem that is read as a song to find out how much she can swallow and what happens when she has had too much.

The illustrator for this book uses a collage technique to make the pictures in this book. Each collage features an animal and what a person would associate with that animal. The pictures are full of bright colors and they are very busy pages. The animals in this book are hiding from the old woman in the dark. The illustrator uses a black background to show them hiding while the woman is out in the sun created by a yellow background. The illustrator cuts out a hole in the old woman’s stomach to show what she just ate and to show what all she has eaten in total.
