Dana and Jordan (sitting in a tree : )

grew up together... as college students acted on intense desire together... did not suffer through Jordan's mother's death and grief together though... Dana loved him, but could not reach him... he needed to get away, knowing he could not ask Dana to leave with him... Dana's heart was crushed.

x number of years later, Jordan is back... a successful author, at peace, and wanting to find what he had discarded - both in the small town and in Dana. He had bought a painting, because one of the women looked like Dana.

And he becomes part of Dana's quest for knowledge and truth - the 2nd key. She must confront her true feelings for Jordan, and be open to him fully - a difficult, risky, frightening task.

Indulgence is taking shape... Dana's book store is developing... she finds some satisfaction in the loyalty and support some of the library patrons are showing her - including the 20 year old fued between 2 elderly gentlemen who daily bet on some piece of trivia, contracting with her to uncover the truth.

And Cain struggles to keep them apart... reminding her of how he hurt her .. how he can't be trusted... how her feelings can't be trusted.

And Cain takes the key hidden in Jordan's book, and hides it in the story - drawing Dana and subsequently Jordan into the story - where love and courage triumph.

the 2nd lock to the demigoddess' box is opened.
