Totally spellbinding book of short stories from master of the form, Alice Munro. Rich in ambiguity and characters they don't always have clear motivations, Munro gives us stories the feel real and immediate. Munro can make you feel like you're seeing all the down to a person's core sometimes. Interesting note, even though Munro is of course a woman, and most of these stories have women protagonists, I think I liked this book better than any of the female members of my book club (I am the only male member). If complex, literary short fiction is your thing, put this on your list.
