This book is about a person called William de Worde, who starts a newspaper in a city called Ankh-Morpok, with the help of a group of dwarfs who have invented a fast printing press. The trouble is that the guild of engravers doesn't like the dwarfs making multiple copies of writing and selling it cheap. The engravers before had been using a slow method of carving the letters on a piece of wood the with ink, pasted it on multiple pieces of paper. William also gets involved with a murder when Lord Vetinari, the overseer of the city and a supporter of Williams paper, gets arrested for stabbing his assistant. William has to keep getting stories for his paper while solving what actually happened in Lord Vetinari's office.
William doesn't really want to get involved with the events that happen in the story but they still seem to have something to do with it.
I liked this story because it has short random explanations about the Discworld which is fairly similar to our world but just still in the dark ages and not quite like ours. I also liked the story, how all seems to come together in the end. It's quite like a humorous detective story, which is why i liked this book.
