What a fantastic book and hard to believe it's a first novel. This is the first book I've read set in contemporary Northern Ireland (plenty of books are set pre-Good Friday Agreement) and it's a fascinating look at the battle raging between those who believe the war is over and those who do not. The plot is complex with a lot of characters but Neville keeps it all moving forward and believable. I could barely put it down the last 100 pages. This is the book that Craig Ferguson has optioned and I cannot wait to see how it translates to film. Highly recommended.
