it was amazing

I was a huge Alexander Hamilton fan and admired Thomas Jefferson before I read John Adams. My views are now modified. Hamilton was a genius but also rash and conniving; Jefferson was a patriot but also a spendthrift, back stabber, and dilettante. I do give Jefferson a reprieve for the great personal losses he suffered.

John Adams was probably the greatest statesman of the founding fathers. McCullough time and again mentions Adams' vanity as his only real character flaw. He was loyal, brave, and abundantly self-sacrificing throughout his life.
