Maeve Binchy is a favorite author of mine. This particular one gave me a number of good chuckles as she describes the actions of the children characters. I could envision exactly what was taking place. I always enjoy the depth of the character that I feel she creates. Most popular authors are pretty superficial. Maeve gives a more rounded picture. I also like the interaction of her characters. They are loveable and fleshed out into a "reality" feeling. She just writes a good story.

This story is of Tom and Cathy who met at chef school, and then set up a catering service. The book opens with the first opportunity which is for Cathy to cater at her mother-in-laws, who thinks Cathy is not good enough for her son.....the dialogue and sequence of events are really entertaining. The business flourishes as Cathy's marriage and Tom's relationship with his model/girlfriend begin to fall apart.

Binchy's story here says: genuine love can transform lives. YES!
