really liked it

While it's formulaic in the manner of most romances (where the outcome is, predictably, a romance), it delved into the growth of the characters far more than most. It wasn't about the setting or the actions as much as it was about the people involved. Both of the main characters saw significant personal growth and stretching of their limitations and prejudices throughout the story.

The sole flat note for me was in the epilogue which was trite, rather predictable, and involved two supporting characters who remained rather flat themselves through their brief appearances in the story.

The old standby Harlequin romance style hits me at a 1, other standard romances hit me at about a 2. Most paranormal romances come in at a 3. This one was a solid 4. There's clearly going to be a followup book and I'll happily read that.
