it was amazing
bookshelves: mystery, just-enough-romance, humor, suspense

This is Charlaine Harris' first mystery series, and still the favorite of some readers. Although it is considered a "malice domestic" with theoretically no explicit sex or violence, it pushes the envelope a little on the violence, and while the sex stops at the bedroom door, the path to that door is so movingly described as to seem sexier than some more explicit scenes in the hands of other writers.

Caveat emptor: If you like to figure out ahead of time what is going to happen in the end, whether in the mystery or in the love story, this is not the series for you. Actually, in either of those cases, Harris is not the author for you. Her worlds are very real, and real life can be so distressingly unpredictable!
