It is hard write a review a classic science fiction novel almost 40 years after it was published. This book has obviously had a lot of influence on other writers. (Eon, Gateway, and Gregory Benford novels, all come to mind). I really like the ambiguity of the ending. I like how Clarke imagines that 200 years hence, people will all be polyamorous swingers. I liked the physics problems.

Its still one of those flat character novels with workman like prose, only it is also weird, trippy, and cool.
