it was amazing

There is almost no coherent way to describe this book. It is a continuation of "Black Out"--not a sequel. I am not sure that this book would make a good deal of sense to someone who had not read "Black Out".

Our intrepid time travelers appear to be trapped in 1940's WWII London. Will they be rescued? Who will come to the rescue??
In 2060 Oxford(England) time travel HQ-dismay reigns--they cannot get back to WWII to rescue our travelers--the whole mechanism seems to have shut itself down...

Has time travel really messed up one of the pivotal points of 20th century history?? WTF is going on???

I will say that this book hurt my brain--in the best possible way.
And that I cried my way through the last 50-100 pages. Tears of joy, tears of sadness, tears of awe and glory.

Oh my goodness--even better than Doomsday Book, and that is saying a lot!

I will have to re-read both books a number of times to catch all the hints.
