This is the second book in the Waterbrook Multnomah Value Fiction Blog Tour that I recieved and I am so glad that I did. Angela Ewell Hunt has been an author that I enjoyed her works. She has a talent all her own and an ability to fully capture her reader within the first pages of her books. I was unfortunate, however, to not have had the pleasure of reading her first book in The Heirs of Cahira O'Conner series, The Silver Sword. But I am pleased to say that The Golden Cross, book 2, is a highly enjoyable read. It is easily captivating. I did have, in the beginning, a little bit of confusion because the dialogue seems to continue a story line from The Silver Sword, but once I got pass that it was an excellent read and one that could be a stand alone title if you are an Angela fan as I am.

It is a bit of both a historical and present time story. The beginning and the ends are in present time telling of research that Kathleen O'Connor is doing to find out about the other women in Cahira O'Connor's family line that have the unmistakable mark of a white strip of hair above the ear on one side, while the middle goes back into history and tells of Aidan O'Connor's story and how she longed for a better life outside of Indonesia and escapes to that better life. It's life on a sea coming to a better country and it is fully captivating. Going back into time and seeing, through the eyes of Aidan, the clothes and the way of history life, was just absolutely amazing. God shines through throughout the story making this an even more wonderful read.

Sadly, the highest rating I can give is 5 stars....but it is another that is worthy of so much more. I highly recommend this book to everyone, however, I do suggest that you try to read it in the series, but if you can't, it is still one that you won't want to miss! A wonderful book by Angela Ewell Hunt that I am glad I had the chance to review.
