Read in April, 2008

I'm revisiting some of my favorite authors and Anne Rivers Siddons is one of my all-time favorites. She's the one who got me to start reading everything written by a particular author. Anyway, I read this when printed (1987) and probably really enjoyed it. This reading (age 66) I was a bit more critical, and while I liked it quite a lot, found that she has other books out that are better! Her characters still engage me, however, and I always wish to know how things will turn out for them. There were parts of this story that could probably have been ommitted and not affected the outcome. Most of all, it interested me to see what a "period" piece this story has become since first reading it. It spoke of typewriters, word processors, land phones, and so on. What a techno world we now inhabit.

This is still an entertaining read, and I would like anyone to investigate her books. She remains a favorite of mine!
