My favorite thing about this book was the author's writing style. The story starts when the protagonist is a very young child in Korea and ends with her about to go to college after having lived in America most of her life. The author's writing changes as the girl grows up; the first parts are marked by a lack of understanding and an inability to articulate her ideas and as she grows the narrative voice changes. Other than that, the story didn't seem revolutionary. I kind of wondered how indicative of the Korean-American experience the book was. Not that I didn't believe it, just that I don't know anything about it.
