I had high hopes for this book, but was disappointed. I commend Gordon Korman for choosing to write about the relationship between football and Alzheimer's disease -- I just wish he had done a better job. I find Korman's books in general to have implausible and somewhat outlandish plots. This works OK in a story intended to be mainly funny, but it bothered me in a realistic fiction story like Pop. Teens who read it will have more empathy for those who suffer from Alzheimer's and will probably like the football action and high school social dilemmas - but I'm concerned that they will also be left with some misconceptions.
