You really have to suspend your disbelief for the ending of this book, and it suffers from some quite confusing mishandlings of timing (not of pace - it's marvellously paced - but the actual timing of scenes and events are sometimes very poorly conveyed) Despite that I loved this book. LOVED it. The sense of time and place, the strength of voice and character, the sheer grit and salt of the whole thing, blew me away. I actually think this will be a re-reader and that's very rare for me; I hardly ever have time to reread books.
