Richard awakens after a life-threatening injury, finding that no one remembers his wife. The first 2/3 of this book is bogged down by dialogue and Richard's desperate persistence in trying to convince everyone around him that Kahlan is real.

But the last 1/3 of this book is excellent. Things finally start to happen and things get interesting.

The best part of this trilogy is the return of people, places, and things from other books, such as the sliph and the Boxes of Orden. It was nice to see a reminder of these powerful pieces of magic that had simply been forgotten.
