This was a really difficult book, full of topics that I think would be challenging to an adult, let alone a teenager. The biggest one is the question of what makes someone (or something) human, when it has all the mannerisms and emotions of a human, but is actually a machine. As we interact with bots more in our daily life, this becomes more relevant.

This is a compact book, which increases the impact, but I think it is too compact for the message to fully sink in. It ends within a few pages of the climax, leading this reader to close the book and walk away without any sort of debriefing. I thought this was a shame, really.

Still, the book used a format in an interesting way to tackle a topic that challenges the reader. So kudos to Beckett, and I would like to see this book discussed with younger readers.
