Sophia Russo is Psy- part of a race who have excised human emotions so that their innate psychic abilities rule everything- but her time is almost up. Those gifted with the abilities to extract memories like her are immediately conditioned for the court systems making her part of the Psy-Judge class. Unfortunately the nature of the beast tears at their shields at an exponential rate. On the case of a serial killer, Sophie knows she’s about to be taken out and destroyed to hide her “defects” but she’s determined to run before that happens. When human Detective Max Shannon comes on the case, something about him makes her long for a different outcome, even though an emotionless Psy should never be connected to a complicated human.

When ultra cold Psy Councilor Nikitta Duncan’s personnel start mysteriously dying, Max and Sophie are asked to join the investigation. Now they must fight the evil that is bent on eradicating all other races but the strong, but quietly going insane, Psy and the desire for each other entangling them both.

Like the last one, I really enjoyed this one. Normally I’m all about changelings and shifters for their unapologetic passion and possessiveness, but the last entries focusing on them in this series srsly disappointed me. In Bonds of Justice we have a heroine wounded and told she’s defective and an uber sexy hero who, knowing she’s wounded doesn’t believe for one moment she’s anything but perfect- and determined to have her. (I can’t resist a story about love healing all.)

That said, there’s still something missing for me in the overall plot to keep me fully engaged, and I cant quite put my finger on why. (I found myself easily able to put this book down and wait to pick it up again. :\)
