It was ok. The first two books were far better and much more well written. This book felt like it was distant from the others and it didn't feel like the same characters almost. Other than them talking about past events there wasn't anything really connecting this one with the other books. Janie's mom is much more passive in this book, Cabel is like an ornament on a tree (just for show) and he doesn't act like any real person would. The quips and jokes in this one seem forced and the writing is made even worse with horrid attempts at slang to make the characters be more approachable I guess. I really don't fully understand why she felt the need to use slang and especially slang that only she is familiar with. I had this marked at 3 stars but writing this and remembering all the issues makes me want to lower it to two.
