I should probably stop reading these books out of order, but they are good stand alone reads as well. This is mylatest installment of good things to listen to while you run. What I like about Baldacci is he slowly and steadily unravels the story, so there is no great surprise in the last 20 pages that you built up to for 400 pages. While you miss that 20 heart pounding pages, the 400 pages are far more engaging and it is more organic to continually be gathering pieces of the story until the end. I also like that the endings are not very satisfying where everything is wrapped up in a neat bow. Damaged people stay damaged, even with resolution of the major plot line, and everyone else just goes back to their old day to day routines. I would describe his endings as "good enough for government work."
