My sister gave it a "5". But I can't go that far. I was fascinated by the topic (having taken an anatomy class in college and growing up in a curious family) and there were some chapters I found particularly interesting (practicing surgery on cadavers, research on car safety, decomposition, morgue practices, researching plane crashes etc.). Some chapters were disturbing to me and I skimmed them briefly (army research on cadavers, religious cadavers, cannablism, decapitation, things done to dead people). After backpacking with the wife of a mortician a year ago and getting answers for questions I'd never asked anyone else, this book completed most of the answers. However, I didn't really appreciate some of the flippant attitudes of the author. She was quite thorough and there were entertaining, light writings throughout.

Caryn Ha! Me, too. However, I'm also reading, "The Help," so I'm a bit slow getting through, "Stiff." Fascinating, though.

Rene Just can't eat stir-fried beef while reading that book. Doesn't work.
It reminds me of my anatomy class at BYU.
