it was amazing
bookshelves: heritage, newbery

** spoiler alert ** Grace Lin is a favored author. This book indeed satisfied my wish for a book about dragons. Chapters rotate between tales told, the main character's quest, and her parents worry. So the reader has to be a frame of mind to read stories within the story. Grace Lin masterfully weaves all the stories together to a joyful end. Descriptions are rich.

Minli is on a quest to change her family's fortune. She was sad that her Mother always complained about their lack. Page 259 - Minli understood "fortune." " Fortune was not a house full of gold and jade, but something much more. Something she already had and did not need to change..."

Lin includes an author's note and a bibliography of some of the books which inspired "Where the Mountain Meets the Moon."
