Kind of a downer.

** Rereading this for school and find it even better than I remembered. This is one of the best -- and most disturbing -- popular history books I've read, and I highly recommend it to anyone. If all nonfiction writers had Adam Hochschild's gifts, I'd probably read even fewer novels than I already do but would be much better informed about actual facts.

Jessica You know, it's not really true, now that I think about it. Especially after reading something so graphically horrific and depressing, I need a novel more than ever. You know, art for medicinal purposes, to take the edge off these very harsh facts.
