I think this book was written about 20 years too late. I didn't feel any of the complaints Ms. Wolf has about modern pregnancies was new information. Yes, it was certainly scary her descriptions of the standard of care at hospitals versus midwife care... though I also find myself thinking the opposite, how scary the level of maternal mortality before modern medical care. I don't know what I think about it or if I were to ever decide to have a child which way I'd go. But what I really didn't care for was reading an entire book of Ms. Wolf whining about the way she was treated during her own pregnancy. It was interesting though, and I think a good alternate book for people to read when they are pregnant to counter the the pregnancy-industrial-complex.
