I really like Cassiel and Luis; Caine does a very nice job with them as characters. That being said, this second book in the series goes a whole lot of nowhere, really. Unless "in circles" counts as progress.
Aside from a lack of solid, definable plot arc development, Caine's writing is pleasant and solid. I'll certainly give the sequel a try, but if it's as Merry-Go-Round as this one is, I doubt I'll read any further. No matter how fascinating the characters are.
Not a riveting read, but then it didn't need to be since I read it in 30-minute fits and starts over the past two months. And it was enough to keep my attention during my lunch break.
