Russell Banks novel of the radicalization of the 1960s has spread through time in the telling of the story of Hannah Musgrave who goes from member of the Weather Underground to hardened revolutionary "growing up" in Liberia. It is both a truly intriguing character study and a keen wrestle with the fate of youthful idealism, aging and the realities of revolutions.
