The art was very good. All the details were dreary and gruesome enough that a boy or tomboy might pick this up without worrying about reading some "princess story." The rhyme scheme wasn't bad although I'm not a fan of poetry and rhyming books tend to annoy me until I get into the story. This one almost succeeded at making me forget about the rhyming, but not quite. The story was a good twist of the classic Cinderella story even though it was slightly weird.
