it was amazing

What took me so long to discover David Foster Wallace? It's inexplicable. The only reason I read this book is because a good friend gave it to me as a departure gift before I left the country; if he hadn't I'd probably still be in the dark about DFW's genius. Thanks, Tom.

Normally I don't go for books made up of "collections", be they short stories or non-fiction essays. But Consider the Lobster serves up winner after winner after winner. Hilarious, deep, ironic, subversive and genuinely informative, all at once. Intellectual without being elitist. What a treasure this guy was. I can't believe I'm only picking him up now, a year and a half after he killed himself. Alas.
