I only read the first of the Hungry City chronicles but i luuuuvvved it. This is a prequel, but works just fine as a standalone book. I truly love his dystopian future London, especially that everything takes place around the Barbican, where I got lostish my first night in London and felt as if I was in dystopian future London. And pubs named "The Mott and Hoople" and "The scary Monster and the Super Creep."

Philip Reeve=Philip Pullman maybe.
