I am a real fan of growth and potential stories, anything that shows someone becoming more than they had believed they could be, so it is no surprise that I liked this book. Following Harve's journey from spoiled brat to man was quite satisfying.

Yes, the language was a bit difficult, however I believe it would have been difficult in Kipling's time, as it wasn't as much language of the age that was the difficult part, it was fisherman slang, and (sometimes) foreign fisherman slang at that. It certainly added to the variety of the characters, and the feel of the life of a fisherman on the Banks.
