I didn't read the first two entries in this trilogy, but I found this one to be well-written and easy to follow in terms of what generally came before. The story seemed to be one that was independent of its predecessors, but taking place in the same general atmosphere and culture; this made the references to the past two novels necessary in some instances, but these were done well and not belabored. The characters were interesting and the plot was fairly good. The ending, though, was disappointing, not only for this single volume, but also for the trilogy as a whole.
