I saw this book at Costco and remembered that I had heard of it from Bookcrossing. I thought the title was silly and that's why I hadn't paid any attention to it before. Since the book was now in front of me, I decided to read the first page, then the second. It sounded interesting, but I didn't buy it at the time. I just couldn't get the book out of my mind, so I decided to buy the ebook version. I'm glad I did, because I fell in love with the story. I liked the epistolary format and think that it suits this story very well. The characters were very interesting. I also liked learning about the occupation of the Channel Islands during WWII.

Things I didn't like about this book are the silly title and the abrupt ending. One thing I didn't quite understand about the story was why Juliet would want to adopt Kit and not someone else who had been taking care of her?
