Another NY Times Bestseller I took a chance on - it's lovely cover was calling to me from the "Favorite Paperbacks" display at Borders. It was worth the 3-4 days it took me to read. For the first 200 pages or so, I thought I knew what was going on. Insert major plot twist. Then during the next 200 pages or so, I was sure I knew what was going on. Insert another major plot twist. Result = WOW ending! Unfortunately, there wasn't a lot of character development, so I didn't feel like I "knew" the characters at the end of the book. This left me feeling unsympathetic towards the characters and I think took away from the "wow factor" that the end certainly had. I got the sense that the author wanted this story to be character driven, so that was somewhat disappointing.
