Our Dumb World: The Onion's Atlas of the Planet Earth, 73rd Edition
by Editors of The Onion
We laugh to keep from crying.
Ever read their article on New York City distributing "infants only" dumpsters?
I agree that the Onion pushes the envelope on tasteless humor, but it's not an endorsement of human rights abuses - more like a scathing critique. And the starving Ethiopan thing is too horrifying to be funny - but the Onion is often incredibly hilarious.

I was at powells the other day feeling too old in the graphic novel section and too young in the poetry section, so I ended up....once again, in the humor section. Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon this new Onion collection.
Imagine my horror as I read headline after headline. I mean come on! It is not easy to offend my sensibilities (sometimes I wonder if I still have sensibilities) but OY! this was really, really bad.
I'm fully willing to laugh at anything and everything American but I just can't muster up a hearty laugh while looking at starving Ethiopians - white trash americans starving -that's funny stuff. 3rd world countries starving, not so funny.
