Although I liked this short book, at times the narrative format gets a little tedious. At times I wondered (especially when the story turned to Erica) how reliable the narrator's perception might be. I kept thinking of Nabakov's Pale Fire.

I don't know that the book had deep insights for me, but it was an interesting character sketch.
